I first started in the property industry 24 years ago. I began working within a well-known Corporate company in the South East Property Market. Working as a Lettings Negotiator and loving the concept of finding people a property in which to live, I quickly worked my way up through the company ranks where I went on to manage my own branch. I was headhunted to work for another corporate company where I was an Area Manager responsible for 2 offices; one was a start-up in a new area.
Whilst working for a corporate company has so many benefits, it is so heavy with red tape, only allowing you to provide a certain service that the company thinks is relevant. This did not allow me, as an individual, to adapt a service to a specific client’s needs or to be able to go the extra mile in helping with a specific request. I was heavily driven by target performance and commission on everything that was sold, and fees set out to charge the customer without a thought as to what that customer may or may not need. It became increasingly hard to give a personal service or to add a personal touch to each individual client that I met with. After all, we are all different with all different needs and wants. These needs and wants also apply to Letting out your property or finding a new home.
In 2006 I moved to The Sunshine Coast of Eastbourne and Started Homes4Let Property Services Ltd. My philosophy was to start a company that provided a high personal service that was also cost-effective. Not to be the biggest Agent on the High Street but one that you can trust. A company that’s long-lasting and prides itself on Customer Satisfaction. Moving home is a life-changing event. It’s a big change and needs to be handled in a way that is taken seriously and efficiently.
I’m a proud member of ARLA (The Association of Residential Lettings Agents), Property Mark, The Property Ombudsman and the TDS (Tenancy Deposit Scheme) All awarding bodies that are regulatory boards which ensure that members maintain good standards. As with any professional, it is important to ensure that you are working with someone who adheres to a code of conduct and regulated rules.
Currently I am working towards a Property Mark level 3 Qualification. I’m always looking to better my knowledge within the Lettings industry. This in turn will always benefit my business and the relationship I have with my landlords and tenants alike.
I’m happy and confident to say that after 18 years I have done what I set out to do. My business has exceeded my expectations and continues to do so. I have dealt with some amazing Landlords, Tenants, companies and contractors. I have had wonderful support from these people, some of whom I have been working alongside from the beginning. I am very thankful to them and for those that have and do continue to support me.
With an ever changing market, new legislation set constantly and the pandemic we have witnessed these past 3 years, I am on hand to guide my clients through these challenging times. My philosophy still continues. To provide a high personal service that is cost-effective. To be the company that you can trust. A company that’s long-lasting and prides itself on Customer Satisfaction.
